The Constitution Club Needs Your Help!

Whether a state has a right to secede from the Union or not is covered in the Tenth Amendment.

The states created the Union and before ratifying the Constitution they demanded a Bill of Rights be added to the Constitution.

They wanted to be absolutely certain that the newly formed government to be the servant of the people and the states.

It was well understood that any power or authority not specifically granted to the National government was retained to the states and the people. Since the right of secession is not mention in the Constitution, it is one of the rights retained by the states.

The thirteen colonies seceded from the British Empire and set a precedence. When in the opinion of the people of a given state feel the National government has violated the terms of the Constitution they have a right to sever the connection.

In the pyramid of political power, God created man and was the supreme sovereign, Man created the states, and the states created the Union. The central government was the low man on the totem pole. The right of secession is like an insurance policy against governmental tyranny.

Personally, I am not in favor of states seceding from the Union, but I am in favor of strict enforcement of the Constitution. I believe that the Constitution delegated limited powers to the National government were few and well defined while the powers retained by the states were nearly limitless.

By accepting the notion that in the Constitution there are implied powers you give the government the authority to expand their powers beyond what was intended. The powers of the National government can only be changed thought the amendment process outlined in Article V.

Today the Constitution is amended every time an unconstitutional law is passed, an executive order is writing or whenever the Supreme Court misinterprets the Constitution. Any amendment proposed to the states for ratification must be approved by two thirds of the members of the House and Senate and must be ratified by three fourths of the states.

Making positive changes in the Constitution is nearly impossible because getting two thirds of the member of Congress to vote on an amendment that would strip them some of their power is highly unlikely. The first ten amendments limited the power of the government to abuse the rights of the people, but all of the subsequent amendments have expanded the power and control of the government over the people.

The right of secession gives the states the ability to hold the servant government accountable. Denying the states their sovereignty turns the servant into the master.

Just like a marriage contract that can be dissolved so can the contract between the states and their servant government. Secession is the last resort, we should and make every effort to preserve the Union and restore Constitutional Republic. We don't need to amend the Constitution, we simply need to obey it.

yes, enforce the Constitution of 1787 NOT the one of today.

Yes Jim,
The Constitution FOR the united States.

And the Feds have gone so far off track of the Constitution; making up and passing laws that don't concern them, it's pathetic. What's even more pathetic is that We The People let them get away with it. Wasn't Jefferson OK with secession?

If states want to leave because they get screwed over, they shouldn't have the threat of force hung over their heads, kinda like stay or else.

Jefferson said we should have a revolution every 20 years or so, like once every generation.

Yes! There should be a Revolution in America instead of in other countries. We send our children to other countries to fight for their freedom, but we have none here in our own country.

it appears as though there may be one coming very soon!  Congress is openly admitting that they do not do as the people desire but as they desire only.

These discussions are great. When one says states need to secede, we need to ask the dumb question before we answer. Secede from WHAT?

1.) Is it from the original Constitutional government and Union?

2.) Is it from what we are experiencing now? This is where we need a new definition and universally understood term. What exactly defines us today?

How can we differentiate where we are, from where we started.

With this new outlook, I wish to change my initial knee jerk reply answer. I DO NOT wish to secede from the Union as described and defined in OUR US Constitution. I do wish to secede from the abomination that we have been blindly believing is one and the same. It is not.

When we observe todays elected politicians speaking, how many times do we hear them say something to the effect that we have to protect our "democracy", as if it's the most important element of our country? Only a very few times do we hear a politician state we are a "Republic".

One of our missions should be education. We need to un-elect EVERY politician that utters the word democracy. They are furthering the ignorance that our federal school system has indoctrinated several generations away from the concept of what a Republic is. It's not by accident. Many of these politicians are lawyers. They know definitions, and exactly what they are saying. If they don't, they are too ignorant themselves to "represent" any of us.

My opinion is we need to secede from the ignorant or corrupt elected and government that is masquerading as  a Constitutional Republic. When in fact it is exactly the opposite.

If we had ONE state that returned to our Constitutional Republic, how many of us would move there? If we did that, how many states would follow their lead? Somebody needs to be the example and go first. My bags are packed!

Wait a minute!!! This concept sounds mighty familiar. Didn't some ticked-off colonies escape the wrath of Great Britain? History really does have a tendency to repeat itself. Does anyone know how this story turns out?

If we know the answer to THAT, we should also know which mistakes we made that returned us to our present day predicament. How about we avoid the same ones. Gee, that sounds familiar too!

This whole discussion is a waste of time, bunch of BS.

Is Any State going to secede from the union?

NO

Lets talk about something we can have an effect on.

Does any one and one have any factual evidence they are a U. S. Citizen?

Can you prove your a U. S. Citizen with factual evidence?

We all  must obey the Constitution of the united Stare of America and not the power rehung and money hungry individuals in Congress.  These beings are there only to make themselves richer and make the PEOPLE poorer. Article 5 gives us a means to oust these no counts and regain control of our Constitution. It is time for the American people to get off their complacent behinds and begin to think and realize the government has made slaves of all of us!

amen to that, obey the CONSTITUTION as written by our forefathers.  Delete all of the amendments which the false government has created and return to our true CONSTITUTION!  we must strip the false government and it's representatives of all the powers they have given to themselves and return the power to the states and to the people.

HEAR, HEAR

Couldn't agree more. Let me know when your County's Militia forces are ready. I'll be working on mine.

still attempting to get people to understand the truth, most people appear to be blind to the truth and appear to really not give a darn about it.  It appears people are satisfied with their status quo or else they are just plain scared to death to get their Country back in the hands of the PEOPLE.  However I can not stop attempting to educate the people about the real truth of the country they now live in. Never Stop trying!!
