All men and women were created equal in the sight of God. When we seek dominion over other nations, we are violating the laws of nature and nature's God. Today, our nation is in trouble because we have failed to apply the principles upon which our nation was founded. God has endowed all of his children with the same unalienable rights. It is our responsibility to respect the life, liberty and property of everyone else.

When men are motivated by the love,  they do not seek unrighteous dominion over their neighbors. When nations are motivated by greed they use force to gain a position of superiority over their neighbor. When men violate the rights of others there are inescapable consequences. When one nation violates the sovereignty of other nations, they become the enemy of God.

If it is true that God loves all of his children equally, the idea that he would extend special blessings to some while withholding them from others is absurd. Those who claim they are a chosen people, justify their conduct by misrepresenting God. Governments and churches are man made institutions. I believe the Constitution was written to control the government and that the Bible was written to control mankind.

  • Throughout the history of mankind, there have been more conflicts, battles and wars fought over belief systemsthan any thing else. And of course there are the greedy one's waiting in the wings to stir the pot of conflict when one stops. That is the group of people who want to control the world and all of it's natural minerals, etc.

  •  In the Bible, God Himself tells Abraham that his children (Israel) will be His chosen people. You are wrong to assert there are no nation(s) that are chosen (by God) therefore. However, if you meant to point out that we, The United States, are wrong to have a world-wide empire with troops in over 150 countries and a globe encircling navy you are 100 percent correct! This nation was conceived as a free people with a small defense force to guard our own borders, not those of other countries. What did our first president tell us? To guard against foreign entanglements! How is that working out for us? My opinion is, if we turn our backs on Israel and abrogate our treaties with them, the last reason for The Lord to withhold his judgement of our nation has been cast aside and He will pour out His wrath on us. How many babies have we slaughtered since Roe versus Wade? Do we think that we will forever evade the whirlwind?

  • I do not believe that the Jews of any other group of people are truly his chosen people. The same corrupt Sadducees and Pharisees that were the custodians of Torah would be responsible for the crucification of Jesus. I believe that God loves all or his children equally and that to show favoritism to one group over another would be inconsistent with a just God. If God offers blessing to some and withholds them from others he is not the God that is portrayed in the New Testament.

I personally believe that the notion that the Jews are God's chosen was what the Jewish leaders wanted the people to believe. This gave them authority from God to wage wars of aggression that would not have otherwise been possible. For thousands of years the Bible has been in the custody of unholy and ungodly men, if you think the meaning of the scriptures as we have them today have not been at least partially  distorted, I think you are sadly mistaken.

  • In the Bible, God Himself tells Abraham that his children (Israel) will be His chosen people. This is what we have been taught to believe. How do we know that custodians of the Torah did not create this assertion? Why would God give his chosen people a commandment not to kill and then command them to kill every man, woman and child in the City of Jericho? Either the God of the Old Testament is a hypocrite or those that have been the custodian of the scriptures have been misrepresenting our God.

  •   The Bible was not written to control man it was written to remind man that to live forever he must follow the teachings of Gods Son Jesus Christ. It was written to show us the way to eternal life. Parts were written hundreds of years apart in several different languages by people that never knew each other and there is no contradictions.

The Bible also tells us to love our enemy  but also to protect ourselves from them and those that break the law. So we do have the right to do what we can to protect ourselves and our family.

One more thing - if man has made a law against GODS LAW IT IS NOT A LAW and if MAN MAKES A LAW THAT'S AGAINST THE CONSTITUTION HE HAS VIOLATED HIS/HER OATH BEFORE GOD AND THAT LAW IS NOT A LAW.

    United States

The phrase of Jefferson (see above) was quoted by the United States Supreme Court first in 1878, and then in a series of cases starting in 1947.[18] The phrase "separation of church and state" itself does not appear in the United States Constitution. The First Amendment states that "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof." The Supreme Court did not consider the question of how this applied to the states until 1947; when they did, in Everson v. Board of Education, the court determined that the first amendment applied to the states and that a law enabling reimbursement for busing to all schools (including parochial schools) was constitutional.[19]

Before 1947, however, these provisions were not considered to apply at the state level;[dubious ] indeed in the 1870s and 1890s unsuccessful attempts were made to amend the constitution to accomplish this, but it was accomplished by judicial decision in 1947.[20][not in citation given][21]

The concept was implicit in the flight of Roger Williams from religious oppression in the Massachusetts Bay Colony to found the Colony of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations on the principle of state neutrality in matters of faith.[22][23]

Williams was motivated by historical abuse of governmental power, and believed that government must remove itself from anything that touched upon human beings’ relationship with God, advocating a "hedge or wall of Separation between the Garden of the Church and the Wilderness of the world" in order to keep the church pure.

Through his work Rhode Island’s charter was confirmed by King Charles II of England, which explicitly stated that no one was to be “molested, punished, disquieted, or called in question, for any differences in opinion, in matters of religion.”

Williams is credited with helping to shape the church and state debate in England, and influencing such men as John Milton and particularly John Locke, whose work was studied closely by Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, and other architects of the U.S. Constitution. Williams theologically derived his views mainly from Scripture and his motive is seen as religious, but Jefferson's advocation of religious liberty is seen as political and social.[24]

    The Treaty of Tripoli

In 1797, the United States Senate ratified a treaty with Tripoli that stated in Article 11:

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen; and, as the said States never entered into any war, or act of hostility against any Mahometan nation, it is declared by the parties, that no pretext arising from religious opinions, shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.[25]

According to Frank Lambert, Professor of History at Purdue University, the assurances in Article 11 were "intended to allay the fears of the Muslim state by insisting that religion would not govern how the treaty was interpreted and enforced. President John Adams and the Senate made clear that the pact was between two sovereign states, not between two religious powers."[26]

Supporters of the separation of church and state argue that this treaty, which was ratified by the Senate, confirms that the government of the United States was specifically intended to be religiously neutral.[27] The treaty was submitted by President Adams and unanimously ratified by the Senate.

    Use of the phrase

The phrase "separation of church and state" is derived from a letter written by President Thomas Jefferson in 1802 to Baptists from Danbury, Connecticut, and published in a Massachusetts newspaper soon thereafter. In that letter, referencing the First Amendment to the United States Constitution, Jefferson writes:

Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between Man & his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legitimate powers of government reach actions only, & not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should "make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof", thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.[15]
