Yep; in the beginning our forefathers did not get a salary; they were lucky to get expenses I have read..this kept them quite a bit more honest and humble....out of control now. Legislators should get NO pay when not in session and they take no retirement bennies with themselves at half pay and perks. They pay into SS. They have the same insurance as we do and are NO better than We, their bosses.
I need to get an explanation from one of our members, Dan Garnett..within our State Constitution, Article II to be exact it says, no lawyer/attorneys can hold a public office; Dan says our Constitution is the same when you read the duties of all three branches--I think that is what he said..he is so smart in many things, I often lose track of where is going with the verbal input into my head that is very needed. It is like this: if, say, Joe Blow is an attorney/lawyer..that qualifies as in England, which we still live under in many ways, is an Esq...that is a position of honor but it also collides with duties...we have an attorney/esq which is is in the legislative branch..one defies the other when it comes to passing or negating bills. Anyhow, it is against the Constitution...so with 76% of DC being lawyers, can any of you see what has gone critically wrong?
Barbara, the title of Esquire is not bestowed, by The U.S, Government, nor is any title of nobility. Personally, I think the title of "clown" is a better fit, for these puffed up, posturing, blood- sucking, pompous asses. Term limits would help limit the damage the worst of them create, but much more is needed. Getting rid of the perks, would save some tax dollars, but also encourage the selling of favors... political prostitution, so to speak.
