If you live in a community where the food your produced would be your money you would be able to escape from the shackles of debt. Your wealth would be determined based on the amount of food you were able to produce.
In this type of society your wealth will be determined by how well you use your time, talent and ingenuity to produce things that other people want. Everyone will harvest the fruits of their own labor those that refuse to sow will have nothing to harvest. This is known as the Law of the Harvest.
