When a sailor on a ship wants some free time when the ship docks, he asks the captain for permission. The captain does not have to let the sailor have free time, but if he does decide to let him have free time he grants him what's called liberty. The sailor is not free, he is on liberty. Anything that can be given can be takenay. That's why the statue of liberty was built on its own Island. Because it is not called the statue of freedom, its the statue of liberty.. There is very fine lines in this. Do you want freedom or liberty.
