The total number of military and civilian casualties in World War I, was around 40 million. and here were 20 million deaths and 21 million wounded. The total number of deaths includes 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians. The Entente Powers (also known as the Allies) lost about 5.7 million soldiers while the Central Powers lost about 4 million. In his book entitled "War is a Racket" General Smedley Butler argues that the profit of war is measured in dollars and the cost of war is measured in the number of lives lost. He also wrote that 21,000 millionaires/billionaires were made from World War I. Is this true? If it is true, how did these people become so wealthy?
Those who profit from war are the same people who own and control the media are assigned the task of convincing the public that war is necessary
