Whenever a Congressman or woman votes to spend money they need to consider whether they are defending or violating the Constitution. If we refer to the Preamble it clearly states the purpose of our government..it reads
We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
All money allocated by Congress needs to conform to the provisions in the Preamble.
Obviously, spending money to defend our country against foreign invasion is a lawful expenditure, but funding the bombing of foreign countries is not. Funding programs and projects that benefit all of the people is Constitutionally justified, but providing benefits for some at the expense of others is not.
Before voting to spend a dollar on anything a Congressman or woman needs to ask themselves if their vote to allocate funds are authorized in the Constitution. See Article 1, Section 8
The money spent by Congress belongs to the American people and when money is spent on things not authorized in the Constitution a crime has taken place.
