It seems that if we took the I.R.S., created some law that allows for a fixed amount of money for federal elections (not a penny more) can be used for the campaign that might level the playing field. Then allow elected officials to make no more than 10% over what the office pays for the time spent in office, followed by a year for year ban on lobbying or employment by any organization with ties to the US government. Maybe then we can fix the problem.
Sounds like a good way to start Alan. Being allowed to serve the American people should not be a wealth making job for them. No lifetime insurance or retirement.
New York State is a prime example of this. Quomo was elected the last time and the vote was relatively close. This time there were huge numbers of people pushing to have him removed from office on this election because of his attack on the Constitution. We failed to elect him out. It is obvious that there is control over the voting that allows them to adjust the numbers to be whatever it is they want to be. I have heard rumors that Republicans are working hand in hand with the Democrats in New York State to maintain control. The Republicans do not care if they win the position because they are hand held by the Democrats in the state and they get whatever they want through them. I believe it's time for a new revolution in this country and maybe we won't look so evil to other people in the world.
Just because the Dollar like any other form of U.S. currency including coins has the motto "In God We Trust" doesn't magically make the dollar safe or stable based on faith in the Creator, or for that matter, in faith in the U.S. Government. Let me assure you, the creator is above even trusting our Government, and that what ever it is that created this Universe does not give a wit about what we as a nation base our currency on.
The question is: "Does the vote really count?" In my opinion, "No"! Emphatically "NO!"
The old folks used to say "If ya fooled me once, ya fooled me! But if ya fool me twice, I fooled myself." It's just good old common sense, right?
Another way of saying the same thing "I'll trust you until ya fool me. From then on, I won't trust until ya prove anything ya say." If this makes sense, then why do we continue to "trust" government to count our vote, in secret! I'll repeat "IN SECRET!!"
Why? Because we simply don't have any way to "PROVE" that the vote count is an accurate representation of the vote, right? WELLLLL, we do NOW!

This election has changed the course of history in one night, and boy, was the timing right for it! We have finally gotten the idiots in D.C's attention and it happened without a PAC to do it. It was more or less a spontaneous outcome, and it was long over due. All power still is the hands of US.
But the price of freedom is truly eternal vigilance, are we up to it is the question? ARE WE?
I have read your proposal and though a surefire way to create havoc, it might even work, but it is simply too cumbersome to expect such a system to ever be accepted and it isn't likely to require such cumbersome efforts.
But this idea is far more likely to work well and is a much simpler way. Just have all ballots to be printed on a simple triple carbonless paper copy form, and just vote, then tear off your two copies, that way you have two copies and the elections board has the original, and send in the original via USPS, or if you insist, to your local voting poll box inside a local townhall, and or public library and if you wish you can have your photo taken and time date stamped and you have a photo of yourself dropping the ballot in the box and be done with it. If a recall is held mail or drop off one of copies for the recall at town hall or the library, and no matter what it's a done deal.
Simple and witnessed, and verified official copies of the Original.
And better then all this electronic gear for tampering with, hacker free too.
The problem with this or any other way of creating a real paper trial voting system is you have to sell it to the voters, and the plan above resolves any fears of vote tampering and it's straight up as the copies can verify each other, and can be compared against the original.
And I got it done in just this amount of screen space.
The only left to say is why don't we already have such a backup ballot system given the simplicity of my suggestion?

Talk about being on the same wavelength! That very closely approximates the original "Vva". But the original Vva had some problems, the most important is that it is conducted in the domain of the vote authority (a poling place), the Registar.
Understand, this is not a "vote". It is a "verification" of a vote. Ideally verification should be completely independent of government.
Anything government is involved with represents potential for an "entry point" into the system. And that entry point may well not be government itself, but others off in the shadows who feed at the trough of government.
On that I agree, vote tallies could and should be done by non interested parties and that, in fact, was one of the key points for the reasons for voting machines, and we have seen the results of that haven't we? I still think that if everyone had a hard copy that is verifiable as a true bill, then it would be far beyond the typical methods of high jacking an election electronically. We vote here in Oregon via a ballot in USPS mail in ballot, and in my county a certain measure recently had to be hand counted because the law required it as it was too close to call the tally electronically via a machine reader. I dropped mine off personally at a ballot box that was locked and secured with two locks and only the county election office has the two keys. No matter what some how, some way it will always be the issue of a human that tampers with or makes an honest mistake, because after we are human and we make mistakes, like some of us did when they voted for Obama the second time. It sure as hell wasn't me.
On the tally, have it done by a contract with registered companies that put their name and credentials and surety bond on the line when they place their bid in and then randomly have a drawing for the issuing of the contract at 12:00 PM in the after noon on the election day to and stand by for a recount should one be needed. No internal tallies by any one with any contact or family members who work in Government at all would be the best way though, and then again only to separate companies, on totally different machines made by different manufacture's and no computers that can be rigged either. Back ground checks on everyone who touches a ballot as well as DNA samples.
