The founding principles of our nation are based on natural laws which cannot be altered, amended or abolished. Water always freezes at 32 degrees and boils at 212 degrees at sea level. The legislature cannot repeal or suspend the law of gravity, nor any of the other natural laws.
The Constitution was created to limit the power of the national government and protect the God given rights of the people.
The Constitution is either a contract between the states and the national government or it is not. There are those who believe that The Constitution needs to be strictly interpreted and enforced while others believe that the meaning of the Constitution needs to change with the times. And that is what the amendment process is for.
If the Constitution can be changed without going through the amendment process, then we will be governed by the whims of men rather than the rule of law.
If you want your God given rights protected, you share the philosophy of our founding fathers. If you believe the government should have the authority to "take from those according to their means", to provide for those who are less productive, "according to their needs", then you believe in Marxism and Communism. Those quotes are right straight out of The Communist Manifesto!
