The Founding Fathers created the Electoral College to prevent a democracy taking root in America. The founders understood that democracy was the greatest threat to our Republic.

Creating a bicameral legislature with the membership in one house being elected directly by the people and a second house with its membership chosen by the legislatures of the states, the people would be protected against the tyranny of a majority.

The President is not elect by the popular vote of the people in all of the states. The The people don't even vote for the President, they vote for electors in their state to choose the President.

The founders knew that democracy was the greatest threat to our republican form of government. Those who want to abolish the Electoral College do not understand the dangers of democracy. karl_marx_quote.jpg?profile=RESIZE_710x
