Barack Obama's statement is both true and false. He is right that the Supreme Court decision on Citizens United to grant corporations the freedom of speech is wrong, but his use of the word Democracy reveals how ignorant he really is.
Contrary to the idea promoted in Citizens United, corporation to not have the rights that are enjoyed by people with flesh and bones. Corporations are legal fictions and only have privileges granted to them by the government.
Freedom of Speech is a right guaranteed to the people, but not to the corporations that own the media.
