Most children spend many hours a day watching television and playing games on their computers. Most of the games entertain the children, but are frankly a waste of time.

Playing games that teach our children how to become productive members of society would be better and would reinforce the principles of natural law.

Public schools are boot camps, where our children learn to become docile, obedient servants. They are not taught how to think, they are taught to go along with what the government wants them to think.

Instead of encouraging creativity, the schools stress the importance of being obedient. The children who dare to question authority are labeled trouble makers and punished for failure to do what they are told. Sound familiar? ("Willful failure to file")

Our schools turn our children's brains from thought factories into warehouses of useless and often wrong, information. When the children are taught the principles of learning, they can solve problems. When they are taught to memorize names, dates and events, they lose their love of learning.

A mother bear doesn't need a teaching credential to raise her cubs and parents don't need a credentialed teacher to teach their children to walk, talk, or tie their shoes.

The government spends an average of more than $12,000 a year on every child. If the parents were given the same amount of money they could send their sons and daughters to the school of their choice or even better, let them keep the money they earn in the first place. No more school taxes tacked on to your property taxes. Or, the parents could keep the money and educate their own children. Free choice people!

  • Amazing true story, my Dad was taught in a one-room schoolhouse, born in 1921. He learned enough in that one-room schoolhouse, to be accepted into University of Oklahoma's Chemical Engineering program. He must have learned somethings right.
