REPEAL THE 17TH AMENDMENT
Our authors of the Constitution mandated that the senators be appointed by the state legislatures. They wanted to have one House to represent the people and another House to Represent the legislatues of the several state
It was the responsibilty of the senate to prevent unconstituonal leislateion from reaching the President's desk.
With the ratification of the 17th Amendment the members of Congress could propose unconstitutional legislation and there no way to stop it.
WIth the direct election of senators by the people of the states the important check and balance was lost and the door was open to the abuse of power by the fedreral government
