Nature does not provide a farmer with the opportunity to reap the harvest if he hasn't sown any seeds. The greatest rewards in life come to those who plant the most seeds. Those who sit back and expect someone else to get something for them are attempting to reap where they have not sown.

Congress cannot change the laws of nature by changing the laws of men. For a man to fulfill the measure of his creation he must labor in the field before he can harvest the fruit.

In a society with a free market, each individual has an opportunity to combine their time and talent to produce things that other people need and are willing to purchase. The primary purpose of our educational system should be to help young people discover their talents so they can maximize their production.

Unfortunately, our schools are dedicated to creating obedient employees. When most individuals graduate from college they begin looking for a job where they can trade their time and talent for a monthly income. Rather than pursuing their own dreams, they become another man's indentured servant.

must go out on the limb. A man, like a turtle, must stick his neck out if he is to make any progress. If security is your primary goal in life and you would like to obtain free housing, free food, free health care and free entertainment, perhaps you should consider committing a crime so you can go to jail.

Then you will ultimately pay your rent with the loss of your freedom.

  • If a person gets everything that he wants and never has to pay for it, all he has to do is promise to pay for it but; if he never does fulfill his promise, does that person get all the stuff for free?

    • The point that I was trying to make is that everything has a price and someone ultimately has to pay it.

The individual in your analogy gets what he wants for free, but the burden of paying for it is shifted to someone else.

  • The only problem with trading Jail for a government handout program is that We the People still have to pay. Don't think you really thought that one out real good.

    • The better alternative. Starvation is nature's way to tell one to get back to work. Don't mess with Mother Nature!!

    • You are correct. Prisoners get a free lunch at the expense of people, but the prisoner pays his rent with the loss of his liberty.
