Succession as a Remedy to Evil

A Land of Liberty or a Land with Slavery

The social and economic difference between the Northern States and those in the South made it virtually impossible for the two to peacefully co-exist. When a man and a woman come to an impasse that cannot be resolved, they get a divorce. This is exactly what the South wanted to do. Rather than trying to preserve the broken marriage they fought a war which ultimately cost the lives of over 600,000 men women and children. By seceding from the Union, the Northern States would have lost 30% of the population of the entire Union and up to 80% of the revenue generated in taxes to fund the government. There was no way Lincoln was going to let that happen, so he attacked Fort Sumter supply vessels, knowing it would provoke the South to War.

The price we had to pay to preserve the Union was not worth it. Had the southern states been allowed to peacefully leave the Union, over 600,000 lives would have been saved. Fighting that war to preserve a Union divided by cultural, economic and political differences was a horrendous mistake. The war led to the prohibition of slavery, but it did not end the unequal treatment of our black brothers and sisters.

  • The only thing 'equal' among the people is the offered concept that they are 'created equal' and that presumption simply is not a fact of life.  It is not one which can be forced on the people to believe or accept.

That concept applies only by the operation of law presuming the people as endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, and NOTHING MORE.   What the people do with those rights on a man by man basis immediately makes and keeps them as unequal.  Equality under the law is a function of law and it is not applicable to the real world of mankind.  Anyone believing that he is equal to the next is a fool.
