  • This is pure propaganda.  First teacher unions are not funded by an unidentified government.  What teachers and other workers do with their salaries is their business.  Second, lobbying is but one activity of any union.  Protecting the member from capricious and many times, flat illegal actions by administrations is one of the primary activities of a union.  I have had personal experience with such activity.  Third, influencing elections?  Why did Mr. Trump win?  Not because of the teacher unions.  The article does not propose a solution or alternative.  Yes salaries for education employees are funded by State budgets.  Yes unions lobby for appropriate remuneration of the members.  Who else will speak for the workers?  Management, administrators, I think not.  The constant badgering of teachers by people who generally know only where a school’s athletic facilities are located grows tiresome.
