The Constitution was an agreement between thirteen independent states to create a central government. The states were the parties to the contract and the government created was to be the servant of the states.
It was a legally binding contract created to grant the governing body with a short list of delegated powers, All powers not delegated to the national government were to be retained by the states and the people.
The Constitution was a rule book that defined what the government could and could not do and it was the responsibility of the states to enforce the contract.
It was also understood that the people have a right and the duty of to alter or abolish the government when it becomes tyrannical,
A states created the government by the consent of the governed and have a right to withdraw their consent when they feel national government has failed to protect the lives, liberty and property of the people
.Our ancestors gave their consent to create the government, but we the people have decided to withdraw our consent. As long as we continue to give our consent by voting, paying taxes and obeying all unjust rules, regulations, codes, ordinances and statutes we will continue to the victims of tyranny.
To withdraw our consent we must collectively refuse to comply with unjust laws and enter into adhesion contracts with the State and Federal Government.
When an individual or a group of individuals decide to hire an agent to protect their lives, liberty or property. the employers rather than the employees are the one who call the shots.
Those employed in the legislative, executive and judicial branches of government are our employees and responsible to abide by the terms of their employment contract.
Due to our collective ignorance and apathy, we have allowed our Congressional employees to become our rules. They will continue to violate the Constitution as long as we allow them to do so.

Very Good post: If the States do not wake up and take back States rights over the Federal government, we will gradually lose all of our freedoms.
The Constitution was an agreement or contract between the states. It was a rulebook written to govern the government.
The national government was created to be the servant of the states and the people. Due to our collective ignorance we have allowed our servants to become our masters.
The government has violated the terms of theri employment contract and we must hold them accountable.
The national government is a legal fiction created by the states and has a short list of delegated powers. The national government is supposed to be the servant of the states.
What are the exact steps to do a WITHDRAWAL OF CONSENT, especially since at age 70, not able to work anymore, due to SERVICE CONNECTED Disability incurred or aggravated since discharge from the US Air Force on Jan. 16, 1972.
At this point, fully tied to the US CORPORATION but don't vote at all and have removed myself from this ADHESION CONTRACT.
Without the exact steps to remove the ADHESION, and if done, how is one to live when we don't have Lawful Tender, and there is nothing tied to the FRS and as mandated by the original and only Lawful COINAGE ACT of 1792, much has to be done for us to be FREE and not die and become homeless either.

I agree with your view, Ted. I'm 74 yr-old, and yes, I live off other persons' work even though my retirement fund shows that I'm in good financial shape to live out my retirement in the upper middle class. In a financial meltdown, some or essentially all of my savings will evaporate almost overnight, and I will be on charity. I believe in being respectful and charitable. I can't become heady and opt out of anything. I'm dependent on God, people, and the US economy. Also, I don't think any young person can "opt out" of our system. All we can do is try to help get a trend going that returns some of our lost freedoms. That means States' Rights. It is not happening. So what is the key element? I have concluded that the PROBLEM is simply Political Parties. Get rid of them, and the system will AUTOMATICALLY settle down and begin to right itself. I plan to write more. Let's hear from others on this. "Why" the State Governments became convinced to want/accept/ratify the Seventeenth Amendment may be a crucial question. I've heard at least two reasons. Who knows why it came about? I believe I'm typing under Raymond's line, but I'm replying to Ted.
Not all the states agreed to being ruled by the federal government. That is the true reason the southern states seceded from the united States. On the original Constitution It is written united States. This is grammatically correct because each state was an independent country that had formed a union of trade and defense. Look at what powers they ceded to the union government. The northern states at the time were becoming very industrialized and urbanized. They had already began to coalesce under more central governments. The common people gave up their independence to have the jobs and security that the rich businesses were giving them. This was the beginning of the industrial revolution. Most people in the northern states were busy working to survive and the only truth they knew is what the press of the time was telling them. Any press that as not telling the truths that Abe Lincoln wanted the people to believe was being shut down and its employees were being jailed. The rich business interests appointed Lincoln to do what he did. The military did the bidding because with the win they were allowed to remain in power. The military leaders in fact appointed the carpet baggers of the north that seized the governments of the southern states. These carpet baggers are the people who passed the 13th 14th and 15th amendments. Still under military martial law, since Lincoln never withdrew it and no president has since. They indoctrinated everyone with the Pledge of allegiance to one nation under God. They bought the people running the states buy paying them off. This is how they got the states to cede their power. The whole system is corrupt from the very top level of federal government down to the local jurisdictions. The only hope is a complete melt down of the current petro dollar fiat currency.
I think I'm replying to Keith on his mention that the Constitution is a contract among the States, not a contract between citizens and the Federal Government. That is a correct, profound concept. I think most citizens see it wrong. Now, I think this has led me to a new thought.
The Founders were State people. They had State interests at heart, and in their hearts was--as it is in all of us--a mixture of personal interests and altruistic/public interest. So since there was no Federal Government, the Founders were necessarily State-thinking people. They wrote a Constitution that kept a lot of power in the States, and they would not even have recommended that it be ratified if was not of that character. Now, my new thought is this:
I used to think that loss of States Rights and Federal over-reach was something that required generations to develop, but now I'm thinking that nearly all of the Founders, THEMSELVES, immediately became power-hungry, glory-seekers to a huge degree as soon as the Federal Government began to function. I think they developed political parties to make that happen--make personal power and glory accruing to their names--happen. I think it is just as they said in our source documents: People are like that. So they were people, and they started doing it as soon as they were installed as Federal officials. And the States were too naive to see the vigilance necessary, so it has just gotten worse, and now the Federal operatives are essentially just like the Kings they rebelled against. They don't call themselves kings, but their over-reach is approaching the intolerable point. Will the State Governments wake up. The Constitution being a States' designed, drafted, ratified, and funded thing, it is the States RESPONSIBILITY to dial back the Federal over-reach. It is not up to any of us as US Citizens. We get told that we should be active/vigilant/whatever about Federal politics, but that is wrong. We had nothing to do with making the Constitution. We have no power or responsibility to do anything in Federal politics, but to vote on whom to send to the US House. Beyond that, all we are to do is live and enjoy what comes our way. This could develop some good discussion.
