To Call or Not to Call

I am not in favor of nor am I opposed to an Article V Convention. I am, however in favor of strictly obeying Constitution and following the road map provided to us by the authors of the Constitution. Article V clearly states that when two-thirds of the states have requested a convention to propose amendments to the Constitution, Congress shall call for a convention of the states for the purpose of proposing amendments to the Constitution. Once the requisite number of states make the request Congress must issue the call or violate the Constitution.

We should not be discussing whether or not an Article V Convention is good idea or not, we should be discussing the question of whether or not the required number of 34 of states have already applied to Congress for an Article V Convention.

Check out the following tables to find out which states have already made a request for an Article V Convention.
