Tyranny of the Majority

When the majority of the people can lawfully deprive a minority of their lives, liberty and/or property you are living in a democracy. Our Constitution guarantees that each state shall have a republican form of government that protects the God given rights of all of the people.

Without adequate representation the people in the counties of Northern California have virtually no voice in the California State legislature. The apportionment of representatives in California gives some of the people authority to make decisions while denying it to others.

What is good for an urban county is not necessarily good for those living in a rural county. In California we have two separate and distinct identities and in order to give both urban and rural counties an equal voice, California needs to be divided into two states.

If all of the 2 million people living in the 24 rural Northern California Counties were Jews, Blacks or Gays would they be denied equal representation in the state legislature?

Instead everyone in the northern part of the state regardless of their race, color or creed is being discriminated against based on where they happen to live.

In the state Assembly the people are represented and until 1964 the counties were represented in the state senate. This model both the urban and rural counties a voice in the state legislature. The counties lost their voice in 1964 thanks to Chief Justice Earl Warren and the clowns wearing gowns in the Supreme Court.

If Earl Warren had been consistent he would have abolished the United States Senate.
