After spending eight years and a vast sum of money the British Crown decided to allow the Colonies to gain their independence.

They decided that owning the colonies was not as important as controlling the colonies. If the colonist believe that they had won their independence, England could still colonies monetarily.

The Constitution was promoted by the London Bankers to guarantee that the colonies would repay the war debt. The United States had borrowed millions of dollars from France, Spain and the Netherlands. When we could repay them, Great Britain paid the debt and then required the United States to repay them.

The Constitution was written in part to guarantee that the London Bankers would get their money back. That is why in the Constitution it states that all U.S. debts had to be repaid in gold or silver.
