When Thomas Jefferson wrote that all men were created equal he was referring to a particular class of men rather than all men. According the his definition and the understanding of the men who signed the document, the God given rights were only bestowed upon white men who owned a sufficient amount of land,

Black men, brown men, red men and women were not endowed with the same rights. When Gouverneur Morris wrote the Preamble, he penned the words "We the People" and like Jefferson before him was not referring to all of the people. The delegates at the Constitutional Convention were representing an oligarchy of the  other rich white men living in their respective states. They wrote the Constitution to protect the rights of themselves and their posterity.

Less than 67,000 of the 5,000,000 residents of the states actually voted in the Presidential election of 1800.  The power to elect the President was vested in the hands of electors of 138 rich white electors.

The President was elected by an oligarchy of 41,300 white men.
Less than 2% of the people voted in the election of 1800.

  • The historical record proves that the framers were very racist, although the term was unknown at that time, because all societies of the world were segregationists / xenophobic.  Each concerned only with the propagation of their societies and culture.

In considering the term 'we the people' and what it means today, we need to take to heart the foundational principal of the constitutions.  The meanings and principals embedded in the constitutions at the time of their adoption remain the same unless clearly amended at a later date.  The intent of 'we the people' has never been modified by amendment.

Thus 'we the people' means only white people of European lineage that are born in a state or naturalized by a state - and no others.

Being that we have been under communist controlled fed military occupation since around 1950 and under strong fed influence before that, the citizenship / sovereignty issue is merely academic.

    • So true Bill,

Thanks for not bringing the 14th Amendment into the conversation, even though it is germane to the point.
