At the end of 2013 I was diagnosed with ALS . At that point I had been dealing with the symptoms for almost 5 years, unable to work, and scared to go to the doctor. I am now on disability but is barely enough to cover my rent and utilities .
I am always broke within the first two weeks of the month although the only other thing I spend any money on is food . I would also like to go and see my family who all live in Texas before I am unable to travel . I have not seen them in several years. I believe the only reason that I have survived ALS for over six years is because of the dietary changes I have made. However I am not able to maintain my diet on my disability check and I am not eligible for food stamps because I am on disability. The disease is progressing more rapidly now and I am losing the use of my arms and legs (as well as every other voluntary muscle in my body). I have no idea how I will ever afford a wheelchair or other medical devices that will keep my diaphragm working or allow me to get nourishment since I will all also lose the ability to swallow.If any assistance is possible , it would truly be a blessing.
